FAMILIES IN THE CANYON FACE UNIQUE STRESSORS
FBB has been partnering with parents in the Santiam Canyon since 1997. We started with Home Visiting and in 2010, we leased space and opened our first Therapeutic Early Childhood Classroom called Doris’s Place.
Over the past 14 years FBB has leased five different locations. With a waitlist of 50 children and limited space, we asked local real estate experts to help us find suitable early childhood spaces to lease in the Canyon. After a fruitless exhaustive search, we engaged community partners to discuss a path forward. From these conversations, the decision was made to buy a vacant lot and build an early childhood space with as many classrooms as possible. When a vacant lot 0.2 miles from the Santiam Hospital became available, we knew we had to act.
Act we did. We purchased the lot, met with partners to design the space, and enlisted expert architects and contractors to plan the build. We are now raising $4,308,000 to make Doris's New Place a reality.
