"Keeping Children Safe and Families Together"
Family Building Blocks is the Relief Nursery serving Marion and Polk counties. Our mission is “Keeping Children Safe and Families Together.” We work to prevent child abuse and neglect. We partner with families with children - prenatal to five - who have the greatest need for support. We provide high-quality, critical, and voluntary services at no cost.
In 2025, Family Building Blocks served over 1,600 children and 800 families.
Of those families...
- 87% are at or below poverty level
- 69% of families identify as Latino/x or Hispanic
- 41% included an unemployed parent
- 28% are single parents
- 20% have less than a high school education
- 4% are teen mothers
Historically, 99% of children enrolled in our in our prevention programs remain living safely with their family, avoiding foster care and the devastation of abuse and neglect.
